Moray Women's Aid wants this website to be usable by as many people as possible, whatever their abilities or the device they are using. This statement explains what we have done, where we know there are limitations, and how to tell us if something is not working for you.
What we have done
- An Accessibility button in the pink bar at the top of every page opens a panel of display options. You can make the text bigger, increase the line spacing, switch to a dyslexia-friendly font, left-align text, turn on a high-contrast or greyscale display, hide images, pause animations, highlight links, use a reading mask, add a strong keyboard focus outline, and jump between the headings on the page. Your choices are remembered on that device.
- A Translate option next to it lets you read the site in more than thirty languages using Google Translate.
- The Exit website button and the Using this website safely guide are on every page, and pressing the Esc key twice leaves the site quickly.
- Pages use clear, structured headings so they can be read sensibly with a screen reader, and there is a "skip to main content" link at the top of every page.
- Every page works on a phone, tablet or computer, and you can zoom in or increase your browser's text size without the layout breaking.
- You can use the whole site with a keyboard alone, and every menu, accordion section and form field can be reached without a mouse.
- Text and background colours meet the WCAG AA contrast standard, and photographs carry text descriptions for people using screen readers.
- If you have asked your device to reduce motion, the site turns off its animations automatically.
- The site uses no pop-ups, no auto-playing audio or video, and no cookie banners to work around.
Where we know there are limitations
- Some documents, such as referral forms and reports, are provided as PDF or Word files. Older documents may not be fully accessible to screen readers. If you need any document in a different format, please ask and we will provide it.
- Translations are produced automatically by Google Translate and may not be perfect. If you need information in another language, please contact us and we will do our best to help.
- This website has not yet been through a formal accessibility audit against the WCAG 2.2 standard. We have followed good practice throughout, but we cannot claim full compliance.
